Practicalities of online therapy
To enable online counselling CBT sessions we will be utilising a program called Zoom, an online video conferencing tool that enables people to speak face to face over the internet. It is an application that is free to download on nearly all platforms - Download Zoom for Desktop PC.
You are going to require a computer or laptop that has a webcam either connected up or built in. Webcams are not expensive and one of sufficient quality can be picked up for under £20 - Recommended Webcam.
Alternatively to a computer/laptop setup, you could opt to make use of the Zoom application for your phone which you can download from the Google Play Store or Apple's App Store. Most modern smartphones have a front-facing camera of sufficient quality and good microphones that will suffice for online therapy.
As CBT does involve us learning and utlising pen and paper skills, I will email you appropriate worksheets prior to session and you will need to have access to a printer to print these out and have then ready for your session.
Important Update re: COVID-19
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation - All therapy appointments for the foreseeable future will take place online using Zoom.
This decision has been taken to protect the health of all parties involved in line with recent social distancing policies.
Please contact myself or Donna if you have any questions regarding your ongoing sessions. Guidance on how to use zoom will be forwarded on prior to your next appointment. We hope to offer continuity in treatment without compromise on quality.
We understand that Online therapy may not be ideal or practical for some. We also fully understand that this time brings a lot of uncertainty and that for many therapy may not be a current priority or may prove financially difficult. If you do not feel happy to continue with therapy at this time, please get in touch and we can discuss a break in treatment until more normal times.
At this time, we remain open to new clients who wish to benefit from talking therapy support and CBT online through Zoom.

CBT Online is now available from anywhere in the world and I welcome clients from english speaking countries globally. Speaking with a therapist in another country may also help to ease any confidentiality concerns.
Therapy from anywhere now means no longer missing sessions due to business trips - continuity of therapy is important for it to be most effective.
